 Lift Truck Chain Little Rock - Little Rock is the largest city and the capital of Arkansas State in the USA. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. The MSA or Metropolitan Statistical Area had 699,757 individuals in the 2010 census. This statistical area consisted of the Little-Rock-North Little Rock-Pine Bluff, Arkansas Combined Statistical Area that, based on the census of that same year had 877,091 inhabitants residing there. This figure registered as the 47th biggest combined statistical area in the US. The city of Little Rock itself had a population in 2010 of roughly 193,520 inhabitants making it the 118th biggest city in the United States.
Little Rock is situated on the banks of the Arkansas River. Arkansas River's southern banks boasts a tiny rock formation and stone outcropping which provides the city its name. This particular rock formation is called la Petite Roche, which is French for "little rock." The city of Little Rock itself is located close to the geographic center of Arkansas State. Early travelers and river traffic used the "little rock" as a landmark and this eventually turned into a well recognized river crossing. La Petit Roche was named by French explorer and trader Jean-Baptiste Benard de la Harpe. This area marked the transition from the Ouachita Mountain foothills to the flat Mississippi Delta region.
Prior to the European arrival, Native American tribes have occupied the area for many many years around Central Arkansas. There are a lot of archaeological artifacts found in the area that supports these findings. Amongst the first settlers within the area comprised Bluff Dwellers, the different Mississippian culture civilizations who built many earthwork mounds that were recorded by Spanish explorer Hernando De Soto's expedition during the year 1541. Furthermore, the Folsom people also have proof of inhabiting the area. Some historical tribes from the region include the Caddo, Cherokee, Osage, Choctaw and the Quapaw.
The city has ample things for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. There are many yearly events providing historic and cultural displays. There are also many recreational places to take in. Some of the most famous sites comprise the Little Rock Zoo, that initially opened their doors in the year 1926 with just 2 animals! These days they proudly represent more than 200 kinds with over 725 animals. The birthplace of General Douglas MacArthur is amongst Central Arkansas' oldest buildings. It consists of the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History and opened during the year 2001. General Douglas MacArthur was a great supreme commander in the South Pacific during World War II for the U.S. forces.
The city is considered to be the economic center of the state of Arkansas. Major sectors of employment comprise banks, state, local and federal government, and numerous medical facilities. There are various industries that provide many jobs in the region such as The University Arkansas for Medical Services, the central Arkansas veterans Healthcare System and the Children's Hospital. manufacturing, education, aviation, transportation and education all contribute a lot to the overall success of Little Rock.
A large and vital aspect of the local economy of Little Rock is due to agriculture. Aircraft and spacecraft combined are still a key export for Arkansas. One of the emerging businesses for Little Rock is the University of Arkansas medical biotechnology research program. The university provides much support to start-up biotechnology businesses and is a major part of the program.
